Amazing Thailand-Pattaya BWF World Senior Championships 2025 The individual event will take place 7–14 September 2025 at the
Eastern National Sports Training Centre in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, Thailand.
The BWF World Senior Championships is the largest official badminton tournament in the world. This year, around 1,500 players are expected to participate.
The tournament features singles, doubles, and mixed doubles in five-year age categories starting from 35+, up to 80+.
The level of competition is high, with several European, World, and Olympic champions taking part.
Among them is Hendra Setiawan (Olympic gold medallist, Beijing 2008 and multiple-time World Champion), representing Indonesia, who visited Finland last year at the Arctic Open and ESB. He will play in the Men’s Doubles 40+ category with Tony Gunawan, former Indonesian and current US player, and Olympic gold medallist (Sydney 2000).
No team events are played at the Senior World Championships — only individual competitions.
Team Finland:
Nearly 30 Finnish players are heading to Thailand to represent Team Finland.
Among them, the following players will represent ESB (Espoon Sulkapallo-Badminton):
Tiuku Helin (WS-, WD- , XD-50), Paphon Kasemvudhi (MD-35), Risto Vapola (MD-55) and Jouni Vehkala (MS-, MD-60)
