In the end of October in Otaniemi, Espoo, there will be "THE" junior badminton event: Finnish Junior. Maybe inspired by the Sudirman Cup, there is a bunch of junior world ranking top players participating the U19 tournament as India, Indonesia, Malesia and Thailand are participating among many European country. To the Youth classes we're also expecting many foreign visitors at least from England, Sweden and Estonia.
This Finnish Junior event contains also the FZ FORZ Finnish Youth tournament, which is the main event of the Finnish Junior Elite series for U11, U13, U15 and U17 categories. This tournament will award Finnish junior ranking points 1.5 times. The order of play is the same as in normal Elite tournament: singles are played first in pools, from where the two best players are proceeding to the cup draw. U11 and U13 categories will contain also cup draw for those who didn't make it to top of their pool. All doubles and mixed doubles are directly knock-outs, cup. The main difference to a normal junior tournament in Finland is the large amount of players, and that the matches start already on Friday – you should take a day off from school!
This year we also have the U9 category, so that also the youngest can try how the big tournament feels to play.
